Forge 3.15: goalkeeper saves and a rebound bench

Two versions of the exercise composer went out to coaches overnight. The keeper now catches or parries, and a bench sends the ball back.

Four close-ups from Forge on a green pitch: a player places a shot, a defender slides in, and a goalkeeper in purple gathers a low ball.

Forge is the 3D exercise composer in PitchOS, the workspace we build for independent football coaches. A coach sets out players, balls and equipment, writes the drill step by step, and Forge plays it back with animated players. Coaches open it in PitchOS, under Labs, by invitation.

3.14: the keeper

At the step of a shot, the goalkeeper's panel now offers three choices: no save, a catch or a parry. A catch dives to the point where the ball passes closest, up to 2.4 m away, or takes it standing, high or on the ground, and holds it until the restart. A parry sends the ball away, towards a point or a player.

The same version adds the one-touch volley: the shooter strikes the ball as it arrives from a pass and keeps running.

3.15: passes and the bench

A pass can now be normal or firm. A firm pass leaves harder and arrives earlier in its step.

In the composer, a ball dragged onto a bench, then towards a player, rebounds instead of being picked up, at the speed it arrived. Tilt the bench to 40° and it sends the ball back as a lob, for a chest control or a volley.

For coaches

Both versions went into service in the night of 27 to 28 October. Coaches get a new version the next time they open Forge: the page is served from the PitchOS database, so there is nothing to reinstall. The 60 exercises already in the library open as before.
